A decade into the Syria crisis, communities in Amman, Mafraq, Irbid, and Zarqa face significant protection risks related to their living and economic conditions. Prolonged displacement has disproportionally impacted women and girls and increased their exposure to gender-based violence (GBV) and the need for related services. Debt, lack of savings, and disconnection from formal banking and services make women vulnerable to protection risks such as negative coping mechanisms, exploitation, and incarceration, while also preventing economic empowerment. To get by with inadequate resources, refugee households tend to adopt negative coping strategies including removing children from school, encouraging them to beg, or arranging child marriages.  

Outputs: 

1. GBV survivors receive specialized, quality GBV response services to meet their urgent needs and support resiliency. 
2. Savings groups build critical savings thresholds, supportive social networks, and financial literacy. 
3. Vulnerable children have increased access to education services and caregivers are engaged through the Positive Parenting curriculum. 

Main Activities  

• Conduct a gender analysis  
• Conduct case management sessions for GBV survivors to determine their needs, risks, and vulnerabilities and to design a personalized referral plan, which includes internal and external referrals (IFH)  
• IFH nurses specialized in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) will conduct a series of 40 SRH awareness session  
• CARE provides cash for protection outcomes for GBV survivors referred by IFH  
• Capacity building of CARE Jordan and partner staff on the VSLA methodology  
• Facilitate the creation of approximately 15 new VSLA groups (each group is composed of 15- 25 group members, most of them women)  
• Connect and train VSLA members to e-wallet service and CARE’s VSLA application 
• Distribute conditional cash assistance to vulnerable families during the scholastic year 
• Provide families with positive parenting curriculum
